The museum has not received funds from Douglas County in 2 years.

Update - Jan. 10, 2026

 

On Jan. 8 your Museum, Board of Directors, and the Volunteer Strategic Planning Committee presented a proposal to the County Community Service committee, charged with evaluating the Museum's plans for an enhanced Cultural History Experience moving forward.

In a lengthy discussion following, it is unclear what recommendation that group will make to the County Commission.  At this point, please contact your Commissioners to voice your support for (1) extending the lease in its current form, and (2) providing funding to supplement the funds raised by the Museum.
Staff is currently working without pay since May of 2025.

We are so grateful to our volunteers and staff for the wonderful ongoing work. 

It is our hope that the value the museum brings to our county will be seen clearly and affirmed in enhanced county support of the important work of
celebrating our citizens past, present, and future.
