One
must be a current or former resident of Douglas County and have
earned National Recognition for achievement in their field.
The levels of expertise and talent represented here shows the
depth and breadth of accomplishments by noted Douglas County
citizens.
A
special exhibit room with photos, memorabilia and more is on view

1. Ray Eberle: singer with the Glenn Miller Band, actor, bandleader and entertainer
2. Louise Suggs: athlete, author, teacher, champion golfer and founder of the LPGA
3. Harold "Red" Palmer: inventor of the tranquilizer gun, achievements in the field of wild animals
4. Terry Harper: athlete, member of the Atlanta Braves baseball team, service to community and youth organizations
5. Susan Hutcheson: world-renowned songwriter and performer ("I Love the Night Life")
6. "Captain" Herb Emory: internationally recognized radio broadcaster, NASCAR personality
7. Bill Clary: internationally renowned magician, entertainer, and master of ceremonies
8. Walton Goggins: Oscar winning actor in film and television, currently the lead in the UNICORN on CBS
9. Elena Meyers: 3-time winter Olympian (2010 Bronze Medal, 2014 & 2018 Silver Medal, 2-woman Bobsled)
10. Taylor Phillips: professional baseball player and World Series winner
11. Sam Memolo: host of "Shade Tree Mechanic" syndicated radio show
12. Mike Brookshire: award-winning musician, vocalist, songwriter, and arranger ("What About Us?" Song of the Year)
13. Dot Padgett: organizer of Jimmy Carter's "Peanut Brigade", assistant chief of protocol for President Carter in the White House
14. Peter Frost: award winning environmentalist
15. B. B. Beall: songwriter, publisher, B. B. Beall and Company c. 1900
16. Arthur H Lee: nationally renowned luthier (fiddle and mandolin maker)
17. Jerry Braswell: Grand Ol’ Opry vocalist and musician
18. Hugh Watson: Aviation pioneer and WWI flight instructor for American pilots going to Europe.
19. Louvain Demps: Motown vocalist with the Andantes, the premiere backup group heard on countless Motown #1 hits.
20. Mason Massey: Nascar and dirt track driver with multiple driving awards
